Millwork and Casegood Design and Fabrication; with Lanegate Woodworking
The Butkewietz Residence is a Japanese country style house situated high in the mountains with a commanding views of the Hudson River. The minimalist design aesthetic of the house and millwork was a modern interpretation of traditional Japanese furniture. Each piece of casework was handcrafted using mortise and tenon joinery which gave the appearance of being freestanding. The accent millwork pieces were executed in Honduran Mahogany which underwent a 9 step stain, tone, finish process which created an aged smokey feel.
